civil stoneware booth build out

this build out was for Civil Stoneware's trade show booth. we took it to Americasmart (in july) and then to New York Now (in August). the walls break down to 4'x4' to save on shipping and drayage fees. they were made of 1 x 2's framed with bead board panels cut in half and turned on their sides to create a lateral stripe. we then covered in a thin coat of plaster to bring a matte finish to the beadboard. we made our logo out of the same clay body as the tableware, which was both cost effective and artfully beautiful.

civil stoneware

this most recent project is one that is very close to my heart. my art degree in college was concentrated in ceramics and i have had the opportunity to launch a line of functional ceramic wares.

it's called Civil Stoneware, made right here at my studio in the heart of the Civil Rights District, Birmingham, AL. i've had the best time prop styling with these pieces... they are super photogenic and unique enough to add that little bit of something special to the shot. take a look an see what you think or follow along with us on Instagram xx   (photographs: Stephen DeVries Photography)

valvolene

spent this sunday in a garage in nashville shooting a spot for Valvolene and Big Communications. couldn't have asked for better weather or a better crew.

allllll white set build-out

6 flats, some beadboard, trim, white environmental cues, and a new cordless brad-gun later.... magic.

this was a fun project for JoAnn fabrics + crafts shot in Birmingham at Stephen DeVries' new studio. we wanted an all white room to off-set this hero chair placed on a motorized lazy susan. as it rotates, it switches through fabrics.  after finding a pair of cute vintage chairs in Atlanta, i took them to a local upholster who reupholstered the chair with velcro edges. he then created the 7 patterns of diff. fabrics, so we could switch them out on the day. it took some time and finessing, but overall it cut together beautifully. (i'll post the spot asap)

mannequin challenge

a few years ago, i had the opportunity to set design a disaster scene from scratch. Jason Wallis directed the spot using an enormous motion controlled camera (MOCO). Very little of the spot was done in post, as all the props had to be stationary as well as talent. it was an epic experience with a pretty dope outcome thanks to a really great team of folks.

Books-a-Million holidays

i loved propping at Books-a-Million for this shoot. so many unique gifts, i filled up my entire truck with options. Here's to a bright, white, warm holiday season... it really is the best time of the year.

we had a great time on this piece for Thermador at the Southern Living Idea House.  Robby is such a great chef, and all the beautiful finishes in this home made styling this spot a breeeeze.

i had waaaaayyy too much fun crafting and styling this project with Shannon Crutchfield + Ally Thomason + Alagripco. Shannon designed this adorable costume, Ally shot it + Alagripco lit it.  bravo folks, well done xx

in march i had a great time in Atlanta with Stephen DeVries shooting a few stop motion     commercials for   Jo-Ann Fabrics & Craft Stores .  make + style + shoot for daayyyyyz = so good.

the beauty of freelance work is you never know what surprises wait around the corner & this surprise of a job brought to life my inner child as i created & sourced teeny props + designed a miniature set for the Valvoline Bobbleheads. Its always a good time working with the talented folks at Big Communications.

Bonnie plants

its not everyday you see 3 guys on set huddled around an aquarium with tomato plants and a unicorn inside. this napoleon dynamite-esque vibe was just another day at work with a super funnnn crew resulting in a few laughs.
